How impactful do you think your music would be if it didn’t consist of profane words with today’s generation? If you avoid using words that you felt would counter your message? Would it be a challenge to make it big? Or would it be just another stepping stone on the path to stimulate thought in your audience? Though these are our thoughts, Brandon Redd’s music and life gave us an answer.

Brandon Redd is a Miami rapper who produces music that is friendly for all ears. At the age of 14, Brandon, a middle school poet, was presented with the opportunity to mix his poetry with a beat from a family friend. It turns out this family friend was also a music producer! From that moment, he fell in love and began to freestyle and wrote music to the beat of some famous artists on the radio. Brandon was writing songs unconsciously before he knew it, but there was one problem, he didn’t have his own style. He sounded too much like his favorite rapper at the time, Lil Wayne. (I mean, around that time, Lil Wayne was on everyone’s song, so it was only natural to look up to such talent, right?)

But mom was not having it! With mom being a rapper back in her day, she knew how to help Brandon overcome this. Mom made Brandon repeat his lyrics over and over and over…. non-stop until finally, it developed, a flow of his own. Once this, his flow came to life, so did the rapper, Brandon Redd. Brandon went from poetry in class to music on Apple Music, Spotify, Soundcloud, and YouTube, with his music getting over 11K views!

We aren’t bluffing…one of his songs, “Miami’s Finest,” has 83K views on YouTube right now. See for yourself!

Even outside of his rap pursuit, Brandon is a very kind and driven guy.

His idols are Dewayne Johnson (The Rock), Kevin Hart, and LeBron James not just because of their success but because of how humble and engaged they are with their audience.

(In case you didn’t know, you can tell a lot about someone based on who their idols are.)

After achieving his Bachelors from Barry University, Brandon now spends time reading Marvel and DC comics, doing professional photography, and of course, making music that focuses on more than just bragging.

“I want to build a legacy using lyrics other than profane words. I don’t want any limitations on my music, just how Michael Jackson had no limitations on his. I wouldn’t ever call my mother a female dog, so why promote it in my music? Words like that aren’t necessary for my art form.”
